This modern day Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is reported to be based on a true story. Two bank robbers (Willis, Thornton) find themselves fighting over the love of the same woman Éthe woman they've just kidnapped. In hopes of publicizing the kidnapping they break into the home of the host (Slayton) of a TV show called Crime Stoppers and force him to cover their exploits personally.
